Waste to Energy (WtE) – A Critical Step for a Circular Economy

Waste is a resource not a nuisance.  WtE offers an immense business opportunity to capture financial benefit and increase competitiveness in an environmentally sustainable manner.

Enprode supports the goal of a circular economy which benefits by retaining the value of products, materials and resources circulating in the market for as long and possible and minimizing waste and consumption of resources.  After separation of materials for recycling and reuse, WtE enables green and efficient energy production and supports elimination of the health hazards and environment damage of landfill dumping.

Intelligent waste management requires we prioritization recycling and reuse however, careful selection of the subsequent waste treatment processes is required.  Overall efficiency should be optimized to convert the remaining feedstock into electricity, heat and secondary by-products such as compost and fertilizer.  Conceptual design also includes projecting feedstock availability and characteristics over the life of the facility and environmental stewardship, especially regarding noise and odor which impact on social acceptability.
